History

Maa Majhi Gharini is the presiding Devi of Rayagada.Thousands of Devotes attend the Temple for Darashan, for seeking of Maa or to offer   their commitment on achievement  of their desires.

    Rayagada town grew to the status of Municipality from small Tribal village, and was tagged to Parvatipuram Taluk under Visakhapatnam District. It was Administered by the British Rules under the control of Madras presidency till 1936.

    During the year 1936, on April 1st, the Visakhapatnam District was bifurcated and new District of Koraput and Ganjam were formed and tagged to newly fromed Orissa (now Odisha) State. Rayagada was then given the status of Taluk consisting the undivided Rayagada  and B.Cuttack Tahasils and also declared as Revenue Divisional Sub-Division consisting the undivided Gunupur and Rayagada Tahasils.  

    During the year 1992 on 2nd October, Late Biju Pattanaik the  then Chief Minister, reorganization of Districts of Odisha was  taken up and Rayagada was then declared as one of the District with Gunupur Sub-Division.
